Manual harvest into small crates. Maturation for 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, barriques (new and used) as well as concrete tanks. A further 24 months of ageing in bottle.
Deep ruby colour. Complex nose with a hint of violet as well as ripe red and black fruit. Full yet elegant on the palate with notes of morello cherriy and bleuberry. The acidity lends persistence – a quality shared by the very best Sangioveses.
The vines benefit from a southerly and south-westerly aspect, with roots that dig deep into the stony terrain. Galestro slate, the characteristic subsoil of the Chianti region, absorbs warmth and helps the grapes to reach optimum ripeness, while a calcareous clay topsoil absorbs moisture.
