Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Cold maceration ('cold soak') followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Maturation, including malolactic fermentation, in large oak barrels. Blending after about a year, then maturation for six more months in large oak before bottling and subsequent release.
Ruby colour, with small berries, violet and vanilla on the nose. Spicy, supple and seductive on the palate. Low yields and meticulous vine management are the key ingredients to producing this fine, sensual red wine with excellent ageing potential.
Fruit from various wineries in the municipalities Appiano, grown at elevations of between 400 and 500 metres. The vines enjoy a south-easterly and south-westerly aspect on moraine debris and limestone gravel.
