Kellerei St. Michael-Eppan
St. Michael-Eppan is one of the most successful wine cooperatives in Alto Adige. World-class winemaker Hans Terzer has been at its helm for many years. Terzer is regarded as one of Alto Adige’s white wine pioneers and one of the most important players in Alto Adige as a whole
Comprising 320 growers as well as a portfolio of named vineyards covering over 380 hectares in total, St. Michael-Eppan is one of the biggest and most successful wine cooperatives in Alto Adige. Despite its size, it has always focused on quality ever since its beginnings in 1907, making it one of the best cooperatives anywhere in the world.
Hans Terzer, a winemaking icon
Iconic winemaker Hans Terzer took over operations at the cooperative in 1977. The wines at St. Michael-Eppan have improved incredibly since then, thanks to Terzer’s sheer dedication and perfectionism.
Accolades for excellence
The cooperative and Terzer himself have both won accolades for their excellent wines. St. Michael-Eppan was awarded the title of ‘Cooperative Winery of the Year 2021’ in Gambero Rosso’s ‘Vini d’Italia’, 20 years after being named ‘Winery of Year’ in the same wine guide. In 1997, the Gambero Rosso also included Terzer in its list of the world’s 10 best winemakers.
“Quality without compromise.”
