Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation and malolactic fermentation. Part of the juice (50%) spent time on the lees in barrique barrels. The remaining 50% spent time in large oak casks. After one year, both halves were blended before maturing for a further eight months in stainless steel.
Gold colour. This Pinot Blanc has a complex nose of pear, quince, lemon, lightly roasted nuts, vanilla and fresh biscuit. Full-bodied on the palate. Highly concentrated and rich – but balanced. Long finish.
Fruit from various wineries in the heart of the traditional white wine area of Appiano Monte, cultivated at elevations of between 450 and 600 metres. The vines grow on exposed south- and south-east-facing slopes consisting of loamy limestone gravel, in immediate proximity to Sanct Valentin castle. They are low-yielding and aged between 10 and 32 years. Cool winds blow down from the mountains at night into the vineyards, helping to preserve acidity and aromas in the grapes.
