Temperature-controlled fermentation (28°C maximum) on the skins for 15 to 20 days, followed by traditional maturation for two years in French oak vessels. Subsequent maturation for a few months in stainless steel. No filtering. Bottle ageing at optimum cellar conditions.
Medium ruby colour. Red cherry, currant, and plum dominate the nose, complemented by earthy notes and herbal and tarry characters. The palate is dense, with cherry fruit, herbs and a hint of smoke. Fine tannins and juicy acidity augur extremely well for many years of ageing. Long finish.
Various plots in and around Castiglione di Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. Loam and limestone, with a preponderance of limestone in places.
