Azienda Agricola Brovia
Brovia is one of the best Barolo producers in Piedmont. The property’s exceptional single-vineyard wines are imbued with unique elegance, great character and tremendous ageing potential.
Brovia was founded by Giacinto Brovia in 1863 and is based in the village of Castiglione Falletto. Following a phylloxera scare, the founder’s grandsons Giacinto and Raffaele more or less started the business again from scratch in 1953, with the sole objective of producing distinctive, singular Barolos of the highest quality.
Only the best Piedmont crus
The Brovias have always realised the importance of terroir. Over the years, they have been conscientious buyers of some of the finest vineyard sites within the municipalities of Barolo (Rocche, Villero, Garblèt Sue) and Serralunga d’Alba (Ca’ Mia, Brea).
Continuing the Nebbiolo tradition
Giacinto’s daughters took over the reins at Brovia at the end of the 1980s. Sisters Elena (viticulturalist) and Cristina (oenologist) worked to maintain the family tradition and move the winery forward. Elena and her husband Alex Sanchez have been running the business since 2018. The Brovias have always focused on producing unique wines of pronounced character. All their Barolos are made the old-school way and show elegance, pedigree, vineyard typicity and considerable longevity.

Piedmont
Piedmont basically means ‘at the foot of the mountain’, accurately describing the region’s geographical position framed by mountains on three sides. It is one of the world’s great wine regions. Over 100 grape varieties are permitted for winegrowing in Piedmont. Red grapes Nebbiolo and Barbera are responsible for many of the best wines.
