Temperature-controlled fermentation (28°C maximum) on the skins for 15 to 20 days, followed by traditional maturation for two years in French 30-hectolitre oak vessels. No filtering. Bottle ageing at optimum cellar conditions.
Garnet colour. On the nose, blackcurrant, black cherry, roses, liquorice and spice. Dense on the palate, with fine tannins, balanced acidity and a long, exceptional finish. This wine should be left well alone for at least five years and will certainly last the next 20 years and beyond.
Rocche di Castiglione is likely the most prestigious cru in Castiglione Falletto. This narrow strip of land extends lengthways along a steep slope on the edge of the old village. The Brovia parcel was planted in the mid-1960s on dry, nutrient-poor soil consisting mainly of pale limestone and sand.
