Manual harvest into small crates, with initial sorting taking place in the vineyard. The grapes are sorted a second time as soon as they reach the winery. Following fermentation in concrete, this Chianti is left to mature for six to eight months in concrete tanks and 4,500-litre vessels made of Slavonian oak. After bottling, the wine is kept back for a further 18 months before release.
Intense nose of red cherry, pomegranate, fresh herbs, violet and Seville orange zest, with hints of tobacco and cedar. This is a powerful, fresh-tasting red wine with juicy, balanced acidity and soft modern tannins. The finish is long and bursting with cherry fruit. Already very approachable and enjoyable.
The vines benefit from a southerly and south-westerly aspect, with roots that dig deep into the stony terrain. Galestro slate, the characteristic subsoil of the Chianti region, absorbs warmth and helps the grapes to reach optimum ripeness, while a calcareous clay topsoil absorbs moisture.
