Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Gentle pressing followed by wild-yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Subsequent maturation on the fine lees, exclusively in large oak casks to lend additional complexity and richness.
Medium lemon. Dark aromas and remarkable depth on the nose. The palate is compact and juicy, with lovely fruit extract, a beautiful tension-building mouthfeel and a slightly saline characteristic.
Facing south with gradients of up to 70 degrees, Halenberg makes its vines struggle in the summer for every last drop of water. The grapes in this vineyard consequently stay smaller. This is the secret behind the wine's particularly saline, minerally quality. Halenberg comprises 8.5 hectares and has stony blue slate and quartzite soils.
