Meticulous selection of immaculate hand-picked grapes. Gentle pressing followed by wild-yeast fermentation in traditional Fuder (oak casks). Subsequent maturation on the gross lees for 24 months as well as a further 12 months' ageing in bottle before release.
Medium gold colour. A pure, precise Riesling with intense tropical fruit aromas (pineapple, mango, pomegranate), slightly earthy notes and fresh herbs on the nose. Full-bodied on the palate. The acidity is delicate and somewhat softer compared to the estate's other GG reserve wines. Tropical fruit on a lengthy finish culminating in delicate spice characters.
Shimmering red and insanely steep, Ürziger Würzgarten is a unique amphitheatre of vines overlooking the River Mosel. Ürziger Würzgarten is the only location on the Mittelmosel not characterised by slate. Its soil, Rotliegendes, is a red, weathered conglomerate of volcanic origin. Situated in a specific parcel called 'Unterst Pichler', the ungrafted vines used for this GG Réserve Alte Reben are up to 120 years old.
