Meticulous selection of immaculate hand-picked grapes. Gentle pressing followed by wild-yeast fermentation in traditional Fuder (oak casks). Subsequent maturation on the gross lees for 24 months as well as a further 12 months' ageing in bottle before release.
This vineyard has predominantly blue slate soil. A precise, delicate Riesling of great elegance – very characteristic of its vineyard Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Nuanced and playful with fine notes of ripe red apple, quince, Williams pear, citrus and white peach.
'Im Laychen' is the name of a plot of ungrafted vines that are at least 130 years old. Situated within the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard, its soils consist of blue slate.
