Grapes hand-picked into small wooden crates and laid out to dry for two to three months, during which they lose around 30% of their moisture. Fermentation in stainless steel, with maceration (skin contact) for 20 days. Maturation for 12 months in French oak barrels followed by a further 12 months of bottle ageing.
This year, Vino Sbagliato – a single-varietal Nebbiolo – has an impressive nose showing intense, complex aromas of dried forest fruit, rose, violet, mint, nettle, dried orange peel, clove, black tea, smoke and leather. The wine is powerful on the palate, with youthful tannins as well as great depth and intensity. Herbs, spice and rich berry fruit also provide a stunning backdrop of flavours, culminating in a very long finish.
The vineyard is situated in the municipality of Tresivio at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level. Its soils are mostly sandy and alluvial in origin.
