Destemming and crushing followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, with 35 to 45 days of maceration (skin contact). The wine matures in 30,000-litre Stockinger oak vats and then spends a few months in concrete tanks before bottling.
Nose of fine forest fruit, herbs and rosewood, complemented by black tea and spice. This red wine is full-bodied on the palate, with fine-grained tannins, wonderful balance and richness, and a long, powerful finish. A truly great Barolo.
Made from 80-year-old holdings in the Capalot vineyard – the oldest vines farmed by the Burzi family. This south-facing site sits on calcareous marl just over 300 metres above sea level.
