Selective manual harvest in mid-September, with fruit sorted separately in small containers. Fermentation began within one hour and lasted 15 days at a steady temperature of between 28 and 30°C. The wine then spent 20 months in new French oak barrels and a further six months in bottle before release.
Dark ruby. Intense on the nose, with black berry, spice and a slightly smoky note. Complex and dense on the palate, with a big body and an incredibly long finish.
The estate's holdings are situated near the small town of Blera, on stony, clayey soils, where the dense plantings (11,000 vines per hectare!) yield an average crop size of 25 hectolitres per hectare. These vines, which grow at an altitude of 300 to 400 metres above level, are gobelet-trained.
