Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Fermentation on the skins followed by maturation for 22 months in French oak (95% first-use). No fining or filtering.
Deep ruby. Intense nose of blackcurrant, graphite and roasted coffee. Needs a lot of air to open up. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, with supporting tannins, complex flavours and well-structured acidity. Toast, blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry and spice. Multilayered on the finish. Needs four to five years of bottle ageing to show its full potential.
Grown in the south-western section of the estate's Red Mountain vineyard, where the soils mostly consist of loam with granite and basalt deposits. The vines produce smaller grapes with greater concentration and intensity.
