Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Destemming of most of the fruit, then a cold maceration ('cold soak'). Subsequent fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with additional Marsanne fruit accounting for around 4% of the juice. Gentle pressing then maturation for 18 months in French oak barrels (35% first-use). No fining or filtering.
Deep ruby with a black core. Very dark aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, liquorice and mocha on the nose. A concentrated wine with balanced, firm acidity, polished tannins and a superb structure. Tremendous ageing potential.
The winery owns two very different vineyards that express their terroir in their own specific way. The 60-hectare 'In the Rocks' vineyard is planted with Rhône varieties as well as Cabernet Sauvignon. Capturing the minerality of this terroir is what the team at Reynvaan aim to achieve above all else.
