Reynvaan Family Vineyards Matt Reynvaan, Reynvaan Family Vineyards

This family winery produces Rhône-style white and red wines that show remarkable complexity, multilayered aromas and flavours, and unmistakable terroir expression.

Reynvaan Family Vineyards is a small winery that was founded in 2004 by Mike and Gale Reynvaan in the Walla Walla Valley. Son Matt joined the business in 2005. Ever since the first vintage in 2007, the Reynvaan family have produced wines exclusively from their own estate-grown fruit.

Two different terroirs

The Reynvaans farm two vineyards that express their terroir in their own different way. Firstly, ‘In The Rocks’ is a dried-up river bed in Milton-Freewater (Oregon) containing large, smooth rocks reminiscent of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Wines from this vineyard exhibit a very distinct minerality. Secondly, ‘Foothills in the Sun’ at the base of the Blue Mountains is one of Washington State’s highest-elevation vineyards – a site imbuing wines with wonderful freshness and acidity.

A simple but effective philosophy

Acclaimed winemaker Christophe Baron (Cayuse Vineyards) has been working at the winery on a consultancy basis since 2009. He, like the Reynvaan family, believes in nurturing and maximising the potential of the estate’s vineyards – a simple but effective philosophy that translates into picking at perfect ripeness, carrying out a meticulous selection of the fruit, and bottling only when absolutely satisfied. Expressive wines of great complexity and depth are the result.

“Our goal is to produce one of the finest Syrahs in the world from our vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley.”

Washington State

Washington is the second-biggest US wine-producing state after California. Its cool, dry climate is conducive to producing ripe grapes with firm acidity. Many Washington winemakers are inspired by the Rhône and Bordeaux.
