Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Six months of maturation on the fine lees in stainless steel before bottling and subsequent release.
The 2022 vintage shows great depth along with intriguing notes of earth, malt and wet earth. This is a tactile wine with well-defined acidity, a touch of concentration and a lovely sense of subtlety.
Bassermann-Jordan own 0.75 hectares in this vineyard. Pechstein means 'pitchstone', which refers to the black basalt in the soil. This volcanic rock is interspersed with sandy loam, while sandstone gravel and clay are also prominent in certain places.
