Selective manual harvest in mid-September, with fruit sorted separately in small containers. Fermentation began within one hour and lasted 15 days at a steady temperature of between 28 and 30°C. The wine then spent 30 months in new French oak barrels and a further six months in bottle before release. Production volume: 10,000 bottles.
Great depth on the nose, showing blueberry as well as ripe, stewed red fruit, dried plum and a slightly smoky note. Incredible concentration on the palate, with elegant tannins and a very long finish.
The estate's holdings are situated near the small town of Blera, on stony, clayey soils, where the dense plantings (13,000 vines per hectare!) yield an average crop size of 15 hectolitres per hectare. These vines, which grow at an altitude of 380 metres above level, are gobelet-trained.
