Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Destemming followed by temperature-controlled wild-yeast fermentation for around 24 days, with regular pump-overs to prevent the grape skins from drying. Subsequent gentle pressing followed by maturation, including malolactic fermentation, for 35 months in French oak barrels. After bottling, the wine was kept back for a further 15 months before being released for sale.
Complex on the nose, with aromas of cherry, forest fruit, violet, fresh herbs, oriental spice and dried rose petal. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, balanced and powerful Tenuta Nuova, with lots of ripe, rounded tannins and intensely packed flavours leading into a very long finish.
Sourced from the Fiesole, Perderuccio and Perdernuovo vineyards, which are situated at elevations of 350 to 450 metres above sea level. All three sites have an easterly aspect and galestro soils.
