Hand-picked Cabernet grapes, with wild-yeast fermentation in stainless steel for around 25 days. Subsequent maturation for 18 months in first- and second-use French oak barrels, and a further year in bottle. No filtration.
Intense on the nose, with blackcurrant, cherry, forest fruit, plum, coffee, vanilla, truffle and a subtle hint of leather. Full-bodied on the palate, with good concentration and balance. The long-lasting finish is underscored by dark forest fruit and ends on delicate spicy notes.
From an amphitheatre-like vineyard situated in the slightly hillier part of the Bolgheri appellation – a unique microclimate influenced by Mediterranean winds. The soils are mainly comprised of deep, sandy loam with maritime sediment.
