Casanova di Neri
It all began in 1971 for this world-renowned estate, when Giacomo Neri purchased an extensive rural property situated within the Montalcino municipality. Neri wanted to make a game-changing wine that would redefine the Brunello tradition.
After buying Podere Casanova and changing its name to Casanova di Neri in 1971, Giovanni Neri immediately began work to restore the estate’s existing Sangiovese vines and plant new ones. Over the ensuing years, he acquired additional vineyards that offered excellent terroir for making great wine. Outstanding Brunello di Montalcino was his holy grail from the outset.
A top-class Tuscan family winery
Every year, Casanova di Neri produces phenomenal wines that belong to Tuscany’s crème de la crème. The founder’s son, Giacomo Neri, now runs this beautiful winery together with right-hand man Pierluigi Bonari. Giacomo’s sons, Giovanni and Gianlorenzo, also work on the estate. The Casanova di Neri team continually strive to innovate in the pursuit of excellence, while respecting the values that got them there in the first place and nurturing this legacy for future generations.
Prime vineyards for Sangiovese
Today, the estate comprises seven vineyards with varied soils and microclimates: Fiesole, Cerretalto, Collalli, Podernuovo, Pietradonice, Giovanni Neri and Cetine. Cerretalto is one of Italy’s best and most sought-after wines, rightly regarded among the country’s top three reds.
