Selective manual harvest of immaculate grapes. Back at the winery, the fruit is placed in shallow wooden trays and left to dry out for around 100 days in special drying chambers. Destemming and crushing followed by maceration (skin contact) for around 40 days. Malolactic fermentation in small vessels, with subsequent maturation for 30 months in large French oak casks. Then a further 12 months' ageing in bottle before release. Only 1,233 bottles and 50 magnums of this wine were made.
This is the inaugural vintage of Massimago's first-ever single-vineyard Amarone. Ruby colour. Intense and fruity on the nose, with cherry, plum, spice, and balsamic nuances. This wine shows great power and energy on the palate. Complex and very elegant, with a fresh finish.
Sourced from the Macie cru, which sits 400 metres above sea level and has calcareous soils. This is Massimago's best and highest vineyard.
