Ramey Wine Cellars
David Ramey is one of California’s best and most respected winemakers. By marrying an Old World approach with the innovative methods of the New World, he is able to produce wines of incredible balance and longevity.
David Ramey earned his stripes at some world-famous properties before establishing his own winery in Healdsburg (Sonoma County) in 1996. His early experiences at Château Pétrus and Dominus Estate, for example, were particularly instructive. Therefore, it goes without saying that red wine is as much a part of David’s exceptional repertoire as Chardonnay. His long-lived Cabernet Sauvignons from Napa Valley marry Bordeaux-like structure and elegance with Californian power and aromatic richness.
A pioneer of Californian viticulture
Over the years, David has helped to pioneer traditional, artisan winemaking techniques in California. Such techniques include the elimination of skin contact for most white grapes; sur lie maturation of white wines in barrel; malolactic fermentation of Chardonnay; native-yeast fermentations; and bottling without filtration.
Focus on the export market
Unlike most of his peers in California, David has always had his eye on the export market – much to the delight of his customers outside the US.
In addition to managing Ramey Wine Cellars, David advises a select handful of clients in the North Coast AVA.

California
California is the biggest and best-known viticultural region in North America. The Golden State’s sunny, Pacific-influenced climate produces wines of unique character. Many top Californian Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons enjoy a considerable following in Europe but are only available in limited quantities.
