Meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes. Destemming then temperature-controlled fermentation on the skins for 18 days. Maturation, including malolactic fermentation, in new and used oak barrels (17 months).
This Pinot delivers intense, concentrated and pure fruit expression, with strawberry, cherry, lingonberry, herbal notes and a subtle hint of smoke. It has depth and power on the palate, with fine minerality and persistent length.
The historically renowned Herrenberg vineyard is situated below the rocks of the Schwedenkopf hill. Its terraced southern portion is a steep south-facing slope with gradients of up to 60 degrees as well as slate and greywacke soils.
