Fermentation on the skins for 14 days and maturation for 18 months in large oak.
Complex on the nose, with floral and spicy notes, red fruit and sour cherry. This is a fine Pinot Noir – compact on entry with a fresh, elegant, powerful mouthfeel and a precise finish.
The Kaiserstuhl's volcanic origins are particularly apparent in the Feuerberg vineyard. Burkheim's weathered volcanic terroir is at its darkest amid the dry, stony soils of the Kesselberg lieu-dit situated therein. The fruit for this Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs grows on the south-facing side of the Kesselberg hill in rows oriented in the direction of the slope.
