After being hand-picked, only a small proportion of the fruit was destemmed. The grapes were then cooled down and cold-soaked until the onset of wild-yeast fermentation. After fermentation was complete, the wine spent 18 months in new and used oak barrels made from French and Pfalz oak, before being bottled unfiltered.
Very aromatic on the nose, with red and black cherry, raspberry, redcurrant, sandalwood, humidor, subtle peppery notes and a hint of blood orange zest. Dry on the palate, with fine, ripe tannins and balanced acidity. This Pinot Noir has an appealing full body and is superbly structured, ending in a long finish imbued with cherry flavours and subtle smoky characters.
From old vines planted in 1963. The vineyard is called 'Forst'. Coloured sandstone dominates the soil.
