Manual harvest of grapes at peak ripeness. Traditional fermentation on the skins in oak vessels followed by extended maceration for 20 days. Subsequent gentle pressing with maturation in new oak (60%) and used oak (40%), without any intervention.
Concentrated nose of cassis, cherry, blueberry, plum, vanilla, roasted almond, pepper, and herbs. Persistent on the palate, with concentrated fruit and lots of velvety tannins. Spicy, engaging, juicy and complex. A very long, delicately bitter finish.
Markus Schneider's portfolio of vineyards offer ideal conditions both during and outside the growing season. He also has a veritable mosaic of soils at his disposal: loam, crushed rock, gravel, sand, loess, red sandstone, limestone and various types of clay.
