Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Fermentation on the skins in a traditional open-top oak fermenter. Gentle pressing followed by maturation for around 18 months in 228-litre Burgundian barrels (one-third new oak). Then bottling.
Pronounced minerality on the nose, with notes of white pepper. Incredible length on the palate and the finish. Already a very open and approachable Pinot Noir.
'Burgstädter Berg' was the first-ever designation of origin for a vineyard in Germany, with old cadastral maps referring to it as far back as 1790. It comprises the renowned Centgrafenberg and Hundsrück Grosse Lagen. Wines from this site owe their distinctive minerality to soils consisting of weathered red sandstone.
