Processing and fermentation of the grapes took place at the winery in Maienfeld. After picking, the fruit was transported back to Maienfeld within a few hours. Fermentation in small open-top oak vessels, with regular punch-downs of the grape skins through the juice to extract flavour, colour and tannins. Subsequent maturation on the fine lees for 16 months in 228-litre pièces made from Massif Central oak.
Spicy Pinot aromas and delicate dark berries on the nose. Fresh and succulent mouthfeel with breathtaking elegance, fruit and acidity.
Clos Martha is sourced from a vineyard in Maisprach in Basel-Land that was originally farmed by Matthias's grandmother Martha. The 30-year-old vines in this plot grow on a steep south-facing slope situated 400 metres above sea level.
