After an initial sorting in the vineyard, the grapes are sorted a second time when they arrive at the cellar. Maturation for 12 month in 500 Litre French oak barrels.
Lots of red fruit on the nose, along with floral and vegetal notes and a hint of spice. The palate is nice and fresh, showing intense red fruit flavours and floral nuances. Made from the indigenous Galician grape Caiño Tinto, this single-varietal red wine has balanced tannins and a lingering finish. Production limited to only 1,333 bottles.
From Caiño vines planted over 45 years ago. The vineyards at Bodegas Casa Monte Pío are comprised of small sandy plots. Diminutive holdings like these dominate the Galician landscape.
