Selective manual harvest, with fruit sorted separately in small containers. Fermentation began within one hour and lasted 15 days at a steady temperature of between 28 and 30°C. The wine then spent 30 months in new French oak barrels.
Deep garnet colour. Complex nose of ripe plum, dark cherries and blackcurrant along with spicy notes like black pepper, tobacco, dark chocolate and subtle hints of smoke. Very concentrated and powerful on the palate, with fine tannins and a long, fruit-driven finish showing the hallmark pepper of Syrah.
The estate's holdings are situated near the small town of Blera, on stony, clayey soils, where the dense plantings (13,000 vines per hectare!) yield an average crop size of 15 hectolitres per hectare. These vines, which grow at an altitude of 380 metres above level, are gobelet-trained.
