Selective manual harvest at the beginning of October. Fermentation at temperatures of between 28 and 30°C. Subsequent maturation, including malolactic fermentation, for 14 months in barriques, tonneaux, large oak casks (10% new), with an additional month spent in stainless steel before bottling.
Intense ruby colour, with a nose of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, rose petal, violet and Mediterranean herbs. This elegant red is fresh and finely structured on the palate and has great depth and finesse. Persistent finish with pronounced red berry fruit. Bellacolonna is a special bottling to mark the winery's 20th anniversary.
Bellacolonna is a three-hectare plot situated in the uppermost part of cru Calderara Sottana outside the town of Randazzo, 600 to 650 metres above sea level. The vines were planted in 2006 and 2007 and are gobelet-trained, with very poor, stony volcanic soil underfoot.
