Partial destemming of hand-picked grapes (50 to 80%, depending on the vintage). Vinification in concrete followed by maturation for 12 to 16 months in 225-litre barrels.
Dark ruby colour. Fascinating nose of black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant and dried flowers. Spicy notes like tobacco and pepper then emerge, as does the meatiness that is typical of Cornas. Medium-bodied on the palate, with ripe tannins and good concentration. Persistent finish with fresh dark fruit, black tea and earthy, iron-like notes.
From a warm, dry microclimate with granite soils. Comprising 1.5 hectares of exceptionally old vines.
