Domaine Dumien Serrette
Terroir means everything at this Cornas-based family estate. Domaine Dumien Serrette produces only two AC wines, but these bottlings are perfect expressions of their terroir and tremendous ambassadors of a family tradition that goes back centuries.
Dumien Serrette is based in the village of Cornas in the heart of the Rhône Valley. The estate’s 1.5 hectares under vine sit on a steep slope and are some of the appellation’s oldest vineyards. These plots have granite soils and benefit from a hot, dry microclimate.
Knowledge passed down through generations
Each generation of the family has passed its knowledge and experience on to the next, maintaining the exceptional quality of the wines. Nicolas Serrette, who took over the estate from his father in 2013, is now the fourth-generation owner of the business.
Patou – an exceptional Cornas vineyard
Patou, an extremely steep, granite-rich lieu-dit, is the centrepiece of the property. Nicolas farms the site organically, albeit without any organic certification. After destemming 50 to 80% of the fruit (depending on the vintage), Nicolas vinifies his wines in concrete before maturing them in used oak barrels. His wines exhibit bright fruit expression and great finesse as well as the spicy notes that are so typical of Cornas.
