Manual selection of grapes from the oldest vines. Whole-bunch fermentation with subsequent maturation for 22 months in oak. Only 600 to 750 bottles.
The nose initially shows an abundance of berry fruit (blackcurrant, cherry, blueberry) with dried flowers. Then smoky notes come to the fore. The oak is noticeable but not overpowering – it will integrate perfectly over the coming years. Slightly meaty, iron-like hints also add interest. The palate packs quite a punch, with fine but firm tannins and a long, spicy finish. Give this wine time (ideally until 2030), as it still needs a few years to reveal its full potential.
From a warm, dry microclimate with granite soils. Comprising 1.5 hectares of exceptionally old vines planted in 1913.
