Pisoni Vineyards
The Pisoni family supply exceptional, top-quality fruit to other renowned wineries in California. It was not until 1998 that they began to produce their first-ever commercial bottling, the Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir – a wine now rated consistently as one of the finest Pinots Noirs in California.
Pisoni Estate is a family-run winery based in the Santa Lucia Highlands of California’s Monterey coast. It was founded in 1982 by Gary Pisoni, who was one of the first in the area to start planting vines.
Doing everything by hand
Gary is known for his uncompromising commitment to doing everything by hand – from planting to pruning to harvesting – as well as his focus on low yields, and his meticulous approach to vineyard farming. He strives to work with nature at all times, championing of the Burgundian approach. Gary’s two sons, Mark (vineyard manager) and Jeff (winemaker), are now in charge of day-to-day operations at the winery, which counts among California’s premier producers.
Estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay
The Pisoni family cultivate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in three vineyards within the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA: Pisoni, Garys’, and Soberanes. They sell their exceptional fruit to other pre-eminent Californian wine estates, and every year produce only one Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively. Total production of the Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir ranges from 500 to 800 cases annually, depending on yield.

California
California is the biggest and best-known viticultural region in North America. The Golden State’s sunny, Pacific-influenced climate produces wines of unique character. Many top Californian Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons enjoy a considerable following in Europe but are only available in limited quantities.
