Finca Ambrosía
It is fair to say that Finca Ambrosía hit the ground running: its inaugural vintage scored a sensational 95 points. The estate has not looked back since, producing and exporting wines of freshness and typical varietal character to various countries in Europe and South America.
Five mutual friends and wine lovers decided to invest in Argentina at the beginning of the millennium, establishing Finca Ambrosía in 2002. Swiss Hans Niedermann was one of them.
High-quality, high-altitude viticulture
Finca Ambrosía comprises 65 hectares situated 1,250 metres above sea level in the heart of the Gualtallary district near Tupungato. A dry climate and soils consisting of limestone, sand and gravel offer perfect conditions for viticulture. Meltwater from the Tupungato volcano (6,550 metres above sea level) is used to irrigate the vines. Well-known terroir specialist Pedro Parra consults Finca Ambrosía on how to maximise the impact of the winery’s terroir and harvest the best possible fruit.
Producing their own wines since 2010
During its first few years of existence, the estate sold most of its grapes to a handful of wineries. A local winemaker then produced the winery’s first own-label wine as part of a trial run. Based on fruit from the 2010 crop, this inaugural bottling scored 95 Parker points. The Finca Ambrosia team, managed by celebrated winemaker Daniel Pi, now vinify nearly all of the vineyard crop themselves, producing an outstanding range of wines that show exceptional fruit purity, freshness, and elegance.
