The product of natural, hand-crafted winemaking. Open-top fermentation on the skins followed by maturation for 12 to 20 months in Burgundian 228-litre oak barrels, resulting in natural clarification of the wine. No filtering before bottling.
Balanced and slightly feminine on the nose. Abundant sour cherry on entry and a hint of pencil lead on the mid-palate. Dense and velvety with an inherent sense of warmth.
The sharp incline and dry-stone walls below the Clingenburg castle ruins contribute to an exceptionally warm microclimate. The Fürst family have to do everything by hand in their 1.3-hectare parcel, as these terraced vineyards are too steep for motorised equipment. Weathered red sandstone soils ensure perfect growing conditions.
