Meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes. Destemming followed by fermentation on the skins for three weeks in open-top oak fermenters and vats, then gentle pressing. Subsequent maturation for 18 months in small barrels made from German and French oak. No filtering and or any other treatment.
Balsamic and delicately spiced characters married with ripe red and black fruit. Lovely succulence and vibrancy on the palate. A dense, robust structure marries with fresh, complex minerality to create a superb, harmonious ensemble.
The Heydenreich vineyard slopes south towards Wissembourg in Alsace situated just above the Sankt Paul lieu-dit. The vines grow on a heavy topsoil of loam and clay over a bedrock of limestone.
