Meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes. Destemming followed by fermentation on the skins for three weeks in open-top oak fermenters and vats, then gentle pressing. Subsequent maturation for 18 months in small barrels made from German and French oak. No filtering and or any other treatment.
Blackcurrant, small red berries, forest floor and spicy, smoky notes on a complex nose. The palate is compact, tightly structured, intense and juicy. Expressive fruit characters on a long finish.
The vines, which were planted in 1967, are situated on the hill that slopes south towards Wissembourg in Alsace.
