Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes (maximum yield of 40 hectolitres per hectare). Gentle pressing followed by slow wild-yeast fermentation for several weeks in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Subsequent maturation in stainless steel and a few barrique casks, on the lees until just before bottling, to add complexity and body.
Beautiful aromatic depth on a nose dominated by citrus and pome fruit. A Grosses Gewächs without any 'make-up', showing great assertiveness, tension and concentration.
Die terrassierte Steilage "Schwarzer Herrgott" ist neun Hektar gross und die nördlichste GG Lager der Pfalz. Die Reben stehen südlich ausgerichtet, auf einem Kalksteinplateau mit schweren lehmigen Mergelschichten.
