Weingut Philipp Kuhn

Weingut Philipp Kuhn Philipp Kuhn, Weingut Philipp Kuhn

Philipp Kuhn used to be a bit of a wunderkind – and it almost feels like he still is, considering the regular national and international accolades that continue to come his way. The Laumersheim grower has been making exceptional dry Rieslings and red and white Pinots since 1992.

Philipp Kuhn had to take on the responsibility of running his parents’ estate from the tender age of 20. It was a huge step to take, but everything fell into place, not least because his father gave him free rein. Philipp’s first vintage was 1992. He was pretty young back then. More than 30 vintages later, he is entitled to call himself an old hand.

Intuition and exceptional terroir

Besides the intuitive, sensitive way in which he approaches viticulture and winemaking, Philipp can above all count on an impressive portfolio of celebrated single vineyards in the northern Pfalz – the trump cards that lend his exceptional dry Rieslings and red and white Pinots their signature structure and character. His well-known terroirs include Kirschgarten and Steinbuckel in Laumersheim, the Kallstadt duo of Saumagen and Steinacker, plus Schwarzer Herrgott in the nearby Zellertal valley.

Award-winning wines

Philipp has been showered with national and international awards. He has won the Deutscher Rotweinpreis 10 times and the Deutscher Rieslingpreis four times – a line of success that highlights the consistent excellence of his wines.
