Careful selection and destemming of hand-picked grapes. Fermentation on the skins in separate batches for two to three weeks in open-top oak fermenters and vats, followed by gentle pressing. Subsequent maturation for 16 months in small oak vessels. No filtering or fining.
Spicy nose of blackberry, lebkuchen and undergrowth. Fresh attack with a lovely tannin structure and a beautifully delineated, powerful mouthfeel. A lot of wine for the price.
Sourced from 25- to 50-year-old vineyard holdings situated on both sides of the Franco-German border around the village of Schweigen.
