Meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes. Destemming followed by fermentation on the skins for three weeks in open-top oak fermenters and vats, then gentle pressing. Subsequent maturation for 18 months in small barrels made from German and French oak. No filtering and or any other treatment.
Herbs and slightly smoky notes on the nose. Persistent attack with lovely freshness, depth, sweet extract and velvety tannins. A balanced, world-class Pinot Noir with ripe fruit and liquorice on the finish.
The Heydenreich vineyard slopes south towards Wissembourg in Alsace situated just above the Sankt Paul lieu-dit. The vines grow on a heavy topsoil of loam and clay over a bedrock of limestone.
