Manual harvest followed by a further selection of the grapes, resulting in an approximate average yield of just 45 hl/ha. Complete destemming of the fruit. Fermentation in open-top oak fermenters. Subsequent maturation in used pièces (228-litre Burgundian barrels) for around 13 months, then bottled unfiltered.
Generous nose of raspberry and spice. Exquisite on the palate, with fresh, fruity notes. This is an assertive, elegant and firmly structured Pinot Noir of notable finesse.
The grapes come from young vines in the estate's Erste and Grosse Lage holdings as well as very old vines at the foot of the slope. Rocky, red sandstone soil with an iron-rich subsoil.
