Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Fermentation on the skins for 18 days, followed by pressing and subsequent maturation, including malolactic fermentation, for 18 months in 100% new oak barrels. The wine was bottled unfiltered before being released for sale.
A massive, masculine red wine with fine fruit and spice on the nose. Pronounced minerality. Lots of tension and energy. Good tannin structure. A very expressive Pinot Noir.
The historically renowned Herrenberg vineyard is situated below the rocks of the Schwedenkopf hill. Its terraced southern portion is a steep south-facing slope with gradients of up to 60 degrees as well as slate and greywacke soils.
