Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Fermentation for 19 days in a mash tank, followed by 18 months of maturation in new French oak barrels. No filtering.
Wonderfully ripe and concentrated fruit on the nose, with sour cherry and lingonberry alongside roasted aromas, spice and a fine herbal note. This Pinot is silky and balanced but powerful on the palate. The finish is long, with notes of cherry, chocolate and spice.
Rising directly up from the old town in Ahrweiler, Rosenthal is a south-facing vineyard with varied soils – ranging from greywacke on its eastern flank and cliff loam on its upper slopes, to loam along with loess loam and slate on its western flank.
