Domaine Matrot

Domaine Matrot Adèle and Elsa Matrot, Domaine Matrot

This exceptional family estate is known for its expressive yet delicate wines from prime terroir on the Côte de Beaune.

Domaine Matrot has been in family ownership since 1835. It has always been a prominent estate boasting an outstanding portfolio of vineyards in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. However, its wines have reached new heights since sisters Adèle and Elsa Matrot took over.

A sixth-generation family estate

After finishing their studies in Beaune and Dijon respectively, Adèle and Elsa joined the estate which they now run with their parents Thierry and Pascale. They represent the sixth generation of the family business. Adèle and Elsa believe that tradition and quality go hand in hand, and are committed to preserving the family vineyards for future generations. Domaine Matrot switched to sustainable viticulture in 2000. Organic composting and careful soil cultivation are second nature at the estate.

Gentle vinification

The sisters rely increasingly on gravity-flow winemaking and only use natural yeasts. Long fermentations and restrained use of oak help to preserve the terroir and vintage character of the wines, resulting in ever-greater precision and expression. Domaine Matrot has now earned its place among the finest producers in Meursault.
