Aurore Casanova
Domaine Aurore Casanova is a relatively young estate known for the elegance and finesse of its champagnes, each of which offer delicious and distinctive expressions of terroir.
Aurore Casanova used to be a professional ballet dancer who performed on stages around the world. She left the Zurich Opera House in 2011 to return to the family estate in Mardeuil. Together with boyfriend and business partner Jean Baptiste, she founded Domaine Aurore Casanova to continue what her mother started a generation previously.
Champagnes that make people happy
The estate’s vineyards were planted in 1968 by Aurore’s mother on the Montagne de Reims. Aurore is committed to preserving and making the most of this inheritance while working in a way that is respectful to both humans and the environment. She eschews the use of synthetic herbicides and insecticides, and farms according to biodynamic principles instead. Aurore’s aim is to produce delicious, high-quality champagnes that make people happy. Her debut vintage, 2016, was a resounding success.
Renowned Champagne terroir
Comprising 3.5 hectares, the estate is in the fortunate position of being able farm a number of different vineyards across the Champagne appellation. These include the prestigious grand cru villages Puisieulx on the Montagne de Reims and Mesnil sur Oger on the Côte des Blancs as well as the marl terroir of Champvoisy in the Marne Valley, and – last but not least – the capital of Champagne, Epernay.
